Custom sizes and shapes are fabricated, using the latest plastic welding techniques. Baffles (weir plates) are prepositioned and attached to the interior side plates of each interceptor by using this proven welding process. Covers and baffle assemblies are manufactured by T&C, using only the finest quality virgin sheeting available. all standard covers are designed for flush floor installations. Anti-skid strips available, at extra cost.

Standard threading fitting connections are easily adaptable to any existing or new drainage piping system. However, special adaptors can be ordered from T&C to tie into specific piping systems (e.g. cast iron piping, high-silicon cast iron piping, glass piping, clay piping, etc.), at additional cost. Special optional accessories are available, at additional cost, as follows: Special flow controls and restrictors, special covers, cascading and sloping interceptor bottoms, removable sediment baskets, draw-off valves and hose connections, venting connections, enzyme filling ports, single bolt securing of covers, anchoring lugs or flanges, seepage pans, clamping collars, thermometers, discharge effluent monitoring instrumentation, high level alarm, etc.

HDPE and PP traps are self-supporting. However, larger T&C interceptors are reinforced for added strength, without additional charge. Also inspection manholes are recommended for larger T&C interceptors. Furthermore, interceptor internal construction will vary depending on the size and type required. Baffles are scientifically placed in order to allow for efficient separation of the effluent and easy removal for cleaning purposes. The polyolefin materials used by T&C, feature non-stick properties (for easy cleaning) and are totaly acid (chemical) resistant. Custom units always available. Each interceptor is tested carefully, prior to shipment, for integrity and reliability. Check with T&C for below ground installation instructions.

Operation:

Effluent containing the deleterious wastes (e.g., greases, oils, fats, soaps, cheeses, waxes, etc.) must pass through the T&C flow control device and then through the interceptor. Via natural flotation and gravitational forces, the lighter, hazardous wastes rise to the top of the interceptors and separate from the effluent being discharged. The rest of the effluent passes through the interceptor and is dischard through the bottom of the interceptor, relatively free of the greases, oils, fats, etc. Scientific positioning of the baffles, at our plant, is most important in allowing the floatation process to take its natural course. The T&C flow controls or restrictors actually control flow rates, eliminate turbulance and help to prevent overloading of the interceptor with too much deleterious material, so that proper separation can take place. Air relief ports are furnished on each interceptor, to prevent the possibility of siphonage on the outlet connection.

Advantages of T&C Units:

Our units' lighter weight help to reduce shipping costs and installation costs. T&C units are totally chemically (ACID) resistant - no expensive coatings required. T&C polyolefin traps are made of solid materials throughout that will not rust or corrode; concrete or metal units may chip, crack or peel. (Cracking and leaking of concrete units are a problem, as well as metal units chipping, peeling and rusting.)

T&C traps feature easily-to-clean white (sanitary), nonporous surfaces to help prevent harmful bacteria and virus growth. The light-weight covers, feather-weight baffles and extremely smooth non-stick interiors make servicing of T&C units easier than servicing similar units of metal or concrete. Most of all, T&C traps are less expensive than A.R. (acid resistant) cast iron or steel units and precast concrete units. Ask your local T&C representative for current prices. Allso, optional "Trap-Zap" bacteria injection can help eliminate stoppages, odors and routine maintainence.

Typical Oil Interceptor Installation

Typical Applications:

Commercial Establishments -
Fast food chains, lunchonettes, cafererias, restaurants, commercial kitchens, diners, bakeries, butcher shops, delicatessens, parking garages, auto service stations, laundries, machine shops, etc.

Industry-
Slaughter and packing houses, soap factories, dairies, petrochemical processing and storage (including gasoline and oil) facilities, food processing plants, chemical plants, parking garages, machine shops, aircraft hangers, etc.

Institutions-
Cafeterias and food preparation centers, laundries, hospitals autopsy and operating rooms, parking garages, aircraft hangers, swimming pools, machine shops, home economics classrooms, organic chemistry labs, etc.

A Word of Caution:

There are many variables affecting the trapping, separation and interception of (deleterious) special wastes. Town & Country Plastics, Inc. make no performance claims for the traps described in this specification/buyers guide; nevertheless. T&C polyolefin traps have proven effective as a means of preventing harmful wastes from entering the regular sanitary piping system, at moderate or intermittent flow rates. In every application, the proper T&C unit must be selected and maintained, to eliminate at least 90% of the hazardous materials. Particular attention must be paid to composition and quantity of effluent being discharged.
